Description
There are two elements that make text easy or difficult to read—the words and sentences. Longer words and longer sentences demand greater mental energy making text more difficult to read and comprehend while text with shorter words and shorter sentences is easier to process and comprehend.
Students will experience first-hand how all text is not created equal by reading two similar stories with one major difference—the words and sentences. Students will analyze both texts with step-by-step instructions getting a real feel for how comprehension changes depending on how text is written.
